The Position
Are you a talented Concept Artist with a passion for bringing characters and environments to life? We're seeking a skilled Concept Artist to join our team and help shape the visual identity of our games. As a Concept Artist at Fun Waffle Game Studios, you'll play a crucial role in conceptualizing and designing characters, creatures, landscapes, and props that enrich our game worlds and captivate players.
Key Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with our directors, designers, and writers to create concept art that establishes our games' visual direction and narrative tone.

Develop detailed and imaginative concepts for characters, creatures, environments, vehicles, and props, conveying mood, personality, and story through your artwork.

Iterate on concept designs based on feedback from internal stakeholders and playtesting, refining ideas and exploring different visual directions to achieve the desired aesthetic and thematic goals.

Create comprehensive turnaround sheets and mood boards to guide the 3D modeling, texturing, and animation teams in bringing concept art to life in the game engine.

Stay informed about the latest trends and techniques in concept art and visual storytelling, applying them to our projects to create compelling and cohesive visual worlds
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Illustration, Concept Art, Fine Arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Proven experience as a Concept Artist in the game industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create captivating character and environmental concept art.

Proficiency in digital painting software such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or similar tools used for concept art creation.

Strong understanding of anatomy, character design, environmental design, composition, color theory, and lighting, with the ability to create visually compelling and thematically cohesive artwork.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and iterate on feedback-based designs.

Experience with 3D modeling software such as ZBrush or Blender, enabling you to create basic 3D mockups and blockouts to inform the modeling process.

Familiarity with Unreal Engine or other game engines allows you to create concept art optimized for real-time rendering and in-engine implementation.

Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of player expectations and preferences when it comes to character and environmental design in games.
Equity-Based Project Opportunity
This role is part of an equity-based project. You’ll earn a percentage of the profits when the game ships within a 12-month rolling calendar.
