Our unannounced Narrative Adventure project draws inspiration from classic point-and-click games, reimagined with immersive modern design. We are seeking a Level Designer to craft visually engaging, narratively rich environments that captivate players and bring our world to life.
The Position
As a Level Designer, you’ll design and implement levels that balance storytelling, exploration, and gameplay. You will work closely with the Narrative Director, Lead Game Designer, and Art Team to ensure levels are not only visually compelling but also seamlessly integrate with the game’s mechanics and narrative beats.
Key Responsibilities

Design, prototype, and iterate on levels that enhance gameplay and storytelling.

Collaborate with the Narrative and Art teams to ensure levels reflect the game’s story, mood, and themes.

Build layouts and environments in Unreal Engine, focusing on flow, pacing, and player engagement.

Integrate puzzles, interactive elements, and scripted events into levels to support the narrative.

Ensure levels provide clear player guidance while allowing for exploration and discovery.

Optimize levels for performance while maintaining visual and experiential quality.

Conduct playtests and incorporate player feedback to refine and improve level design.

Work with the Lead Game Designer to balance gameplay difficulty and progression.
Qualifications

Proven experience in level design, with at least one shipped title or a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality work.

Proficiency in Unreal Engine, including level design tools and Blueprints.

Strong understanding of spatial design, player flow, and pacing.

Experience designing levels for narrative-driven or adventure games.

Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including artists and writers.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Passion for creating engaging and immersive player experiences.
Bonus Skills

Experience designing levels for point-and-click or similar adventure games.

Knowledge of lighting and environmental storytelling techniques.

Familiarity with optimization practices in Unreal Engine.

Scripting experience for interactive elements and level events.
Equity-Based Project Opportunity
This role is part of an equity-based project. You’ll earn a percentage of the profits when the game ships within a 12-month rolling calendar.
